NUPENG Three-Day Warning Strike Begins Today
Nigerians should get ready for another round of fuel scarcity beginning from Monday (today), as the National Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers begins a three-day warning strike. The strike became necessary following a longstanding labour dispute between it and some major oil companies in the country and also to protest against the refusal of the Nigerian Association of Road Transport Owners to implement the signed collective bargaining agreement with the petroleum tanker drivers. The strike is scheduled to end on Wednesday after which the union threatened to embark on an “indefinite” industrial action if its demands were not met.
