Oyo MIAST Inaugurates Committee On Loan Scheme For Graduates And Entrepreneurs
The transformation Agenda of the new Administration in the Ministry to develop Oyo State industrially through Science and Technology has brought about the setting up of another committee by the Commissioner for Industry, Applied Science and Technology, Mr. Adedapo Lam-Adesina.
The committee for Graduate Industrial Self- employment/Small Scale Loan Scheme was set up at the Office of the Honourable Commissioner on the 7th March, 2014. The Scheme is set up to give opportunity to unemployed graduates and the unemployed who desire to be self employed and become entrepreneurs in the state.
The 7-man committee that has been handed the task of working on the modalities of this laudable project consists of the Directors of Project Analysis & Implementation; Finance and Accounts, 2 top officials of the Department of Industry, Auditor, Admin Officer and the Press Officer of the Ministry.
Mr. Dapo Lam-Adesina called on the committee members to put in their best as much as they can in order to achieve the desired goal.
“Small Scale industries are the industrial bedrock of any nation that wishes to develop industrially and if we look around us, industrialisation cannot be over-emphasised as it is in line with one of the road map of the All Progressives Congress (APC) which includes the Establishment of technological driven industrial estates.”
The Commissioner further stated that before the current administration came on board, the loan scheme for self employed and graduates in the State had been abandoned which had made it difficult for graduates and the unemployed to have access to government financial support.
In closing the members of the committee thanked the Commissioner for the opportunity to serve and promised to put in their best. Also present at the inauguration was the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Industries, Dr Mrs Bukola Adebusuyi.
Graduates and prospective entrepreneurs should keep a tab on the Ministry’s website(www.oyostate.miast.gov.ng) for update on how to be a part of the scheme.
