Daniella Akpakwu Clarify The Myths Around Diabetes at “Diabetes Demystified” Event

Daniella Akpakwu, popularly know as Wellness Patron(the number one Diabetes coach)organised a Diabetes Summit themed – “Diabetes Demystified”which took place on 10 November, 2018 at The Lilygate Hotel,Lekki,Lagos. The aim of the event was to clarify myths around diabetes and in return give facts to ensure improved well being of all in attendance.

Sponsors like ICare (@asktheeyedoctor) and Rainbow Specialist Hospital partnered with her on this project provided Free eye care and sugar level check and there was also discounted foot massage for early guests powered by The Mobile Spa Lagos. Other sponsors include, Fidelity Bank, Powerporte, White Orange Management,
Sorooted,Spicygreen 9ja.

The event which was meticulously planned by the White Orange Management team showcased experts like Dr Paul Nosakhare, an Endocrinologist, who helped describe how to manage Type 1 diabetes in children and established the difference from Type 2 diabetes. Elder Olufemi Kusa, a Natural Medicine Practioner helped to emphasize the importance of herbs in managing diabetes and ensuring improved wellbeing. Julie Mogbo, the Family Bond Nurse clearly described the importance of leveraging family relationships in managing the fear that comes pre or post diagnosis.

The summit was not meant to be a single event, but a starting point for the work that must be done to create awareness on issues surrounding Diabetes.

As we celebrate World Diabetes Day today, we will like to reiterate one key learning which is that, diabetes is not a death sentence but a call to a lifetime of discipline.
