EVENT REVIEW: Guinness Gold Exclusive Party.
Last week saturday, I was invited to an event designed to introduce the premium lager beer, Guinness Gold. The event took place at the Landmark Event Centre, Victoria Island. Lots of celebrities, influencers and socialites where invited to the event. Ladies looking extremely classy and guys looking dapper were all treated to some good finger bites infused with the new Guinness Gold by Chef Fregz. Guests were allowed to drink themselve to stupor. The bar men kept rolling out several bottles of Guinness Gold. It was a drinking galor.
Ambiance
The moment I stepped into the room, I could tell that a lot of work had gone into creating what I call a well thought through brief to set up the venue. The goal was to give guests an amazing experience. The organizers did achieve this goal right in the liquid education room. The goal here was to make guests feel like they were inside the liquor. Guests couldn’t stop taking pictures. The lightning, audio-visual in the space was perfect .
Next stop was the main room where the party itself would happen. Did I forget to mention that some guests were already treated to a good time before allowing another set of guests into the main room. I was part of the second set. So imagine walking into a room only to findout that there were no more seats, and after a few minutes you were being told to wait for the room to be cleared. Why didn’t they give everyone invited to the event the same experience like the first batch of guests who went into the main room first? More like them saying oya come oh.. we don chop finish make una come stand dey look. I didn’t quite enjoy that part. I felt like we didn’t get the same experience the first set of guests were treated to. Everyone should have been treated equally.
Anyway, Moving on.. clearing the room took a few minutes then the party started. DJ Exclusive was the DJ for the event. Music was good but the guests i think preferred Nigerian songs more . Their vibes and reaction whenever he played a Nigerian song was more exciting. I think he should have focused more on playing Nigerian songs.
The sound was bad.. terribly bad. I mean how do you put in so much effort into creating a wow experience only to have sound glitches here and there. DJ exclusive looked unbothered even as I spotted some guys lifting up a speaker. He kept chatting his way on with a lady. The sound company should be sactioned for providing bad sound.
Then I bumped into a friend.. out of curiosity I asked “so are you having a good time.” He said “I don’t even understand what’s going on . The sound is bad, one moment it’s good then bad the next moment. everyone is just hanging around with no direction. I’ll soon be on my way home.” We talked about a few more things then i went back to my seat.
I hung around till some minutes past midnight. The hall was almost empty.. when I was about leaving.
Verdit
The event was a well thought out event, good ambiance, good food, great beer, bad sound. The event didn’t leave a lasting memory. It was just one of those parties with nothing special to remember.
