Party Gist: Alaga Ijoko Slaps Bride On Her Wedding Day

Hi Fam! Sorry I haven’t been bringing you this segment of the blog. I’ve been busy and I’ve not really had time to gate crash any party. Lol! But today’s gist happened about two weeks ago, my mum persuaded me to follow her to her friends daughter’s wedding somewhere in Sango. I was reluctant to go because I wasn’t familiar with that area at all. Although, I was going to drive there but I thought it would be very stressful. At the same time, I didn’t want to turn down my mum’s request. So at 10am, we set out to Sango. Found the venue, drove in, my mum left me to seat with her friends. I didn’t go with any of my friends. I didn’t have a friend there so I just quickly paned through the hall and found a strategic place to seat. Where I know I would see almost everything happening.
The engagement started and you know how these Alaga’s like to sing plenty songs, waste time and collect money. Anyway, few moments later, the bride danced in, sat beside her groom then the alaga asked the bride “Who is sitting beside you?” The bride said “Tope” . Gbua!!! The Alaga slapped her. “He is now your husband don’t call him by his name anymore. Call him Oko mii or you use Sir for him. He is no more your boyfriend”. Sadly with tears the bride corrected herself. The most annoying part of all the whole thing was, the bride’s family supported just to show the grooms family that they are disciplined. I really didn’t understand the alaga… for a moment I thought could she be temperamental? Could she be a close family friend? Even if she’s a close family friend… At that moment, the bride is her client… what right could she have to the extent of slapping her client? So I ask you…If you were the bride, what would be your reaction?
