Saraki Restates Hope Of Brighter Nigeria
The President of the Senate, Senator Abubakar Bukola Saraki on Thursday restated the hope of a brighter Nigeria and reiterated his commitment of enacting legislation to sustain an investment-friendly atmosphere with the view to bring the country out of its current economic downturn.
While meeting with the visiting United States of America (USA) Ambassador to Nigeria, James Entwistle in his Abuja office, Saraki stated that with the abundant resources present in Nigeria, the government is confident that we will meet the yearnings and aspirations of Nigerians from all walks of life.
The Senate President further extolled the cordiality between the two countries saying that his guest’s visit was prompt and coming at a time the nation is preparing to re-address most of the challenges standing in the way of its developmental goals.
While highlighting the challenges impeding the progress of the country, ranging from epileptic power supply, insecurity, unemployment and revenue leakages, Senator Saraki confirmed that the present administration is concern about the well-being of Nigeria.
“This 8th Senate has the mandate to give Nigerians the dividends
of democracy,” Saraki said, “We will put in place comprehensive systems to make sure that our revenues meet our needs. Our oversight functions will be strengthened to ensure that there will be no room for loopholes in implementing government plans and projects.
“I can assure you that Nigeria will continue to be attractive to
investment opportunities. We have the human capital and with our
younger generation’s steadfastness, training and development, our much needed goals will be achieved.”
In his remarks, the United States Ambassador assured the Senate President of adequate cooperation and support in the areas of insecurity, power supply, human empowerment and investment opportunities.
Entwistle ascertained hope about the future of Nigeria: “I am optimistic about the future of this country,” he said, “Especially when I meet young Nigerians. Their energy, their zeal and prowess indicates that Nigeria will be great.”
