NBC DID NOT BAN MAY’D’s VIDEO
Contrary to reports saying Pop-R&B singer Awodumila Akinmayokun better known as May D had his debut video ‘Soundtrack’ banned by the National Broadcasting Commission, a rep for the NBC says the news is false.
A few weeks ago, several blogs reported that the video ‘Soundtrack’ which featured a cameo from alternative singer Retta was labelled NTBB by the NBC ‘because of too many lewd scenes’.
A rep for the NBC however says the commission ‘has not made any pronouncements on the musical in question’.
‘NBC has not made any pronouncements on the musical in question. NBC will not stop you or anybody from purchasing any musical piece for private entertainment’, Franca Aiyetan, a rep for the NBC told NET in an E-mail correspondence.
‘Our concern is when such musicals are transmitted for public consumption via Broadcast Stations (Television and or Radio). The law provides that NTBB musicals (i.e Musicals with vulgar Lyrics and visuals are unwholesome for public viewing and should not be broadcast in public interest. The Broadcast Stations have their internal Quality control units and have the responsibility of vetting programmes before transmission and these include musicals’, she added.
May D is currently signed to Square Records, which houses and is run by the only other artistes Psquare.
