Event Highlights: ICONIC SINGERS, 2BABA AND MI ABAGA DISRUPT LAGOS AT THE BUCKWYLD ‘N’ BREATHLESS: THE DISRUPTION CONCERT !
What do you envision when you think of a concert with two of the greatest musical artistes ever produced from the soils of Nigeria? All of it and more makes no attempt to cover the entirety of the Buckwyld n Breathless:
The Disruption Concert which held on the 3rd of September, 2016 at the Eko Hotels Convention Centre, Victoria Island , Lagos. It was intriguing , exciting, and the energy emanating from the auditorium was astronomical ! In matter of hours, the Convention centre was sold out.
The cleverly scripted concert showcased the beauty of Africa with its variety of multi talented entertainers from dancers to an amazing 20 piece band and a delectable array of superstars. Artistes like Ice Prince , Cohbams, Waje, Vector , Jesse Jagz, Djinee, Vanessa Mdee, Ruggedman, Nosa, Kelly Handsome among others were live on stage performing classic hits to the excitement of the sold out auditorium. Despite there being no table arrangements, the auditorium was structured in a way that granted VIP guests the privacy they required and still successfully kept the regular ticket guests locked in on the excitement of the concert.
It certainly is an herculean task to choose who the better performer was between the show’s headliners; 2Baba and MI Abaga as both artistes allowed themselves to be absorbed in the performances thus making themselves one with the stage. MI Abaga’s lengthy performance on stage never got boring as song after song, he took the audience on a nostalgic journey through his career with songs from his debut album to the most recent singles.
2baba was ushered onto the stage with a brief talk show by popular TV host, Emma Ugolee along with Osagie Alonge of the Pulse. NG and comedian, AY. The audience who had anticipated the iconic singer for so long burst into screams of excitement when 2Baba appeared on stage in the middle of an argument, It was amazing!
2Baba serenaded the audience with many of his iconic songs like Ole , Nobody Talk About You, among others but the hallmark of the event was when he did a tribute song in the memory of singer and music producer, OJB Jezreel. He did the song alongside Nigerian rap veteran, Ruggedman who displayed his lyrical power on stage. Following the totally engaging performance, 2Baba welcomed on stage, OJB’s son to perform to the excitement of the audience.
Buckwyld Media Networks made a promise and then decided to take their notches beyond expectation. On working on the amazing project, the music director of Buckwyld n Breathless: The Disruption Concert, Don L37, shared ” It’s the best experience I have ever had working with a team of musicians. They were beyond amazing and their attention to detail was impeccable” ! This was truly a disruption in both word and action!
