Lagos Cocktail Week Returns this October!!!
Lagos Cocktail Week is a festival that celebrates the unique cocktail culture in Nigeria through events, seminars and training sessions. This six -day event aims at educating on cocktail culture both locally and internationally, inform on global trends and entertain individuals, businesses and corporations.
Created by the CEO of Eventi Cocktails, Lara Rawa, Lagos Cocktail Week was established to showcase the best of Nigeria’s cocktail culture, with the aspiration for the cocktail industry at large to be recognised as an integral aspect of the Nigerian beverage industry. This festival can also be described as a gathering of cocktail enthusiasts as beverage brands and lovers of great cocktails and mocktails alike get to indulge their taste buds at designated hubs.
Lagos Cocktail Week has signed up selected partnering bars that will offer signature cocktails at a discount to anyone with the festival tickets. In order to take advantage of the promotions and offers happening during the week-long event, participants will be required to purchase wristbands online at www.afritickets.com or at The Liquid Hub, 2 Olawale Dawodu Street, off Kingsway Road Ikoyi Lagos. You can also call 08038804264 to order and it will be delivered”.
As we prepare for the 2017 Lagos Cocktail Week, we are officially going to kick off the week with a Seminar and Workshop on the 16th of October 2017 (the first day of the Lagos Cocktail Week). One of the new features for this year, which is also one of the major highlights, is the partnership with “Culinary Academy” to introduce a Garnish Course. This is especially important for the industry as it deals with the issue of garnish presentation which is a very key skill to being a serious player in the global cocktail making sector.
Following the introduction of the “Bar Battle” in 2016, this year is going to take a slightly different format. The representatives of the participating bars will be present and through a ballot system, they will choose the “spirits” they will work with for the competition. The guidelines will be handed over to them today and they must submit their recipes on or before October 9th 2017.
“Adding more activities to further promote the Lagos Cocktail culture is very important to us and some other new touches this year also includes the introduction a mentorship programme for people who are in the Mobile Bar Catering Services. Research shows that access to professionals in the industry is what they need. We have also introduced the use of local recipes as an essential part of the Lagos Cocktail Week menu for all participating bars.”…. says Lara Rawa, Founder of the Lagos Cocktail Week.
